Grief is Good

Ok, so we've talked all about grief and how to deal with it. We know that grief is inherent in the process, and it's important to recognize it, affirm it, and go through it. But to end this particular little series on a more positive note, adoption is not all about grief! While there can be major ups and downs, the end result is absolutely amazing. I have actually had adoptive parents tell me that they are so happy that they were not able to have biological children, because if they had they wouldn't have this beautiful child through adoption. While it is important to recognize grief and be able to deal with it, it is also essential to realize that without that grief you would not have the greatest joy of your life. Life is full of ups and downs, and adoption is no different. So while it is important to work through the tough times, remember at the end griefwork is great joy. It truly makes everything worth it. There is a reason our agency is called a Gift of Hope Adoptions, and that is because that is what we endeavor to give you – Hope! There is a child out there for you, all of your grief has not been in vain. So do the grieving you have to do, and then make sure you move on to find your child of blessing!
